Jelly candles are more beautiful than ordinary colored candles. There are two types of jelly candles on the market now, one is a semi-DIY candle that does not require heating, and the other is a completely DIY candle that needs heating.
1. Non-heating jelly candles
Because the materials are ready-made, such candles are simpler to make than colored candles. It does not need to be heated, and the focus of making is how to decorate the candles.
Materials:
The material package of non-heating jelly candles can be bought directly at the gift shop. If you prepare it yourself, it is also easy to prepare a glass container (the size and shape are determined by yourself) A tube of jelly wax (available in gift shops or supermarkets, it has its own fragrance and color) Some decorations (dried flowers, shells, red beans, colored sand, small beads, etc.) A cotton wick.
Production process:
1. Spread the colored sand evenly on the bottom of the small glass container, put a few small beads, and start injecting jelly wax.
2. Do not inject all the jelly wax at once. After injecting part of it, you can add other decorations, such as dried flowers, red beans and shells, and then inject jelly wax layer by layer. Generally speaking, it is enough to inject 80% of the jelly wax into the container.
3. Insert the cotton wick of the candle in the center of the jelly wax, and be careful not to insert it to the bottom.
4. After it is done, put the finished product in the refrigerator for a while to help it set.
2. Jelly candles that need to be heated
Materials:
This kind of jelly candle is more difficult to make. In addition to the materials mentioned in the "Basics", you also need to add jelly powder (available in supermarkets), glass containers and decorations.
Production process:
1. Put the white candle in a pot and heat it to melt (the same method as making colored candles), and add jelly powder in a ratio of 1:30 (1 part jelly powder, 30 parts candle).
2. Continue to stir the wax liquid while heating until the appearance is completely transparent.
3. After the temperature drops slightly, add a few drops of perfume and colored crayon shavings and shake the pot.
4. Place beautiful decorations in a transparent glass container.
5. Fix the cotton wick in the middle of the container with a toothpick
6. Pour the colored wax liquid into the container and let it stand for 30 minutes until the wax liquid solidifies and cools.
If you don't want too many bubbles in the jelly wax, you can pour in a portion of the wax liquid first, let it stand for 1 minute to let the bubbles release, and then pour in the remaining wax liquid. Or after pouring the wax liquid, use chopsticks to stir the surface slightly to reduce bubbles.
Heated jelly candles can also be layered, the method is the same as colored candles, but the effect of layering with the same color is better.
Don't throw away the leftover candles, but cut the candles into thin slices and collect them. Next, just melt these candle slices into liquid and add your favorite colorant, and then use containers of different shapes to solidify the wax liquid, and you can make candles of different shapes. If you want the candle to emit fragrance when it burns, just add fragrance oil to the wax.
